Dr. Milton G. Harris, Ed.D., is a veteran educator with more than twenty-five years of experience in K–12 education, higher education, and professional development. He currently teaches middle school science and serves as a doctoral faculty member, mentoring graduate students and supporting educational research.

Raised in rural Alabama in a low-income family without indoor plumbing, Dr. Harris developed an early appreciation for education as a pathway to opportunity. His journey from a small three-room house to earning his doctorate shaped his deep commitment to helping learners develop confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

He has designed and facilitated professional learning experiences, mentored countless educators, and collaborated on initiatives to strengthen science teaching and learning. He has also served as a dissertation chair, mentor, and curriculum contributor, supporting both students and educators as they grow professionally.

This book reflects the lessons, challenges, successes, and insights gained over more than twenty-five years in education. It is written with the hope of encouraging educators to build careers that are both meaningful and sustainable.

When he is not teaching or writing, Dr. Harris enjoys distance running, exploring personal growth, spending time in nature, and continuing his own journey as a lifelong learner.

Above all, he believes that great teaching is built on purpose, reflection, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to caring for both students and oneself.
